Claire Waite is a Senior Field Account Manager and has worked at Thomson Local for the last two and a half years. She looks after a number of small to medium sized businesses across a wide variety of different sectors.
Here Claire tells us more about how she helps her customers with their direct marketing and lets us in on some of her top marketing tips.
So Claire, tell us more about what your job entails?
My job mainly involves going out to meet face to face with companies that are interested in using direct marketing to generate revenue for their business.
Once they’ve contacted us, I have to understand the needs of their individual company and recommend which direct marketing products would be best suited to helping them achieve their goals. The fact that we have a wide range of data lists and direct marketing services makes it easy for me to make tailored recommendations.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I love meeting such a wide variety of businesses. It is nice to be out and about and seeing everyone’s different work places! People are very friendly and relaxed in their work environment, so the meetings are not only productive but usually fun too.
It’s also great that I am able to use my marketing knowledge to really help those businesses achieve their marketing objectives and generate more revenue.
Which direct marketing product do you think customers should make more use of?
The important thing is to understand what the needs of your business are – every business is individual and needs different marketing solutions to support them!

If you could give your clients one piece of marketing advice – what would it be?
Keep your marketing message short, sweet and memorable. And of course make sure you make your call to action prominent!
