New research has revealed that two in five businesses plan to increase their budgets for email marketing in the near future.The study by Round2 Communications found that 40 per cent of firms are looking to up their email marketing spend, while 50 per cent expect to keep them the same for now, reports WebProNews.com.In addition, it was found that 15.4 per cent of companies intend to increase their spending on direct mail marketing.Respondents were also asked for their views on economic recovery, with 60 per cent expecting the downturn to come to an end in 2010 and a fifth even believing it will occur this year.Loren McDonald, vice-president of industry relations at Silverpop, recently claimed that the combination of email marketing and social networking could prove "very powerful" in the future.He added that shared email is becoming a growing trend due to its potential reach.
